In-School Field Trips

Description: A bird enthusiast will be visiting your classroom! Students will explore the needs of the birds around us and learn about the purpose of birdhouses. Your child will then build their very own wooden birdhouse to take home as a keepsake!

Format: Our experienced presenters deliver curriculum-based field trips right in your classroom.

Duration: 2 hours

Volunteers:

Division 1: 5+ recommended
Division 2: 2-5 recommended

Teacher Provides: Laptop/computer, SmartBoard/projector, internet access, sink access and paper towels

Field Trip On Demand

Description: Trudie Goodwin is an avid bird watcher who keeps good company with an owl. Together they share their love of bird caretaking with your students, teaching them about the basic needs of birds, their likes and dislikes, and even about clever distraction display techniques that some birds use to throw off their predators. Additionally, your students will build a wooden birdhouse that they get to take home and use year-after-year! Students will use a water-resistant wood glue as a fastener for their project. Nails and/or screw will be sent home for parents to reinforce the project if they choose.

Due to a change in suppliers, there is a slight modification in the design of the birdhouse that is not reflected in the video instructions. An information sheet will be sent with the supplies to your school.

Format: Pre-recorded videos. Curriculum-based and works in all school re-entry scenarios (classroom and home learning).
