In-School Field Trips
Description:
Charter Challenge! Examine individual rights and fundamental freedoms outlined in the Canadian charter in this program, complete with immersive, role-playing, and group activities. What are individual rights? How does the Canadian charter compare to other countries? Can the charter be used to advocate for change? Students will learn how the charter protects Canada’s diverse heritage and how it reflects the principles of democracy in Canada. Laws and the charter protect Canadians, and students will reflect on how they can use their voices to discuss new responsibilities or freedoms they think all Canadians should enjoy. Participating in hands-on activities, students will discuss and debate the rights and freedoms allowed to each citizen under the Charter and how that contributes to the principles of democracy.
